Etymology: Jacques Thudichum (curator of the Karoo Botanical Garden) - the finder of the plant.
Distribution: South Africa (Western Cape).
History: The plant was first collected by Jacques Thudichum, curator of the Karoo Botanical Garden, in 1956 about 8 km N of Klaarstroom. Larry Leach found that it was close related with H. humilis, but notwithstanding he published it as a new species H. thudichumii in 1988. Peter Bruyns included it in H. humilis (2005).
