Distribution: Namibia (Tiras Mountains).

History: Plant was collected by Wilhelm Triebner in Tiras Mountains in Namibia. It was described by Anna Amelia Obermeijer in The Stapelieae, ed. 2. 3: 1170 (1937). H. striata was recolected by Willi Giess of the Windhoek Herbarium, in 1967. Larry Leach subsumed H. striata under H. thuretii as a synonym in 1988.
