Etymology: formosus (lat.) - beautiful, handsome

Distribution: Somalia (Somaliland).

History: Huernia formosa was discovered by John Lavranos in Dalo Gudun north of Erigavo in northern Somalia. First was identified as H. concinna (Plowes 1979). Leach published it as a new species (1986). Peter Bruyns pointed out to include it as a synonim in H. concinna. (2005).
