Etymology: Dieter Andreae - the finder of the plant.

Distribution: SE Kenya (Kwale, Taita Taveta).

History: In 1959-1960 was well known German botanist Prof. Dr. Werner Rauh from Heidelberg on expedition to Madagascar und Eastern Africa. One member of his team was also Dieter Andreae who found new plant between Mombasa and Voi in Kenya. Rauh described it as Duvalia andreaeana in (1961).

After the study of coronas Larry Leach transfered it together with D. procumbens and D. tanganyikensis to the genus Huernia in 1969. Peter Bruyns pointed out to include it in H. tanganyikensis (2005).
